Another embarrassing admission... I still had a nightlight up until I moved in with my now-husband. When I was a kid, I know that there were all sorts of critters under my bed, in the closet, outside of my window... and as an adult, I had more real fears. Like a nightlight would keep away a burglar? Sheesh.

I keep a distant bathroom light on nowadays, but that's because my ever-expanding belly creates a need to pee at least once during the night. I am a Klutz when half-asleep, and to keep myself from breaking something, I need a dim guide-light when stumbling to the can.

When my husband is away on business, I turn on every outside light, and usually leave at least one on in the living room. Again, like the deer are going to come a-knocking? Sheesh. But it helps me sleep.

My parents left me a night light when they visited once. I thought 'that's odd', but then I kept it and moved it to just in front of the cat's box. She's 15 this year, and I've got myself convinced that having the light there will mean she's likelier to find her way to the jacks in the middle of the night. XD
