Love this. Thanks for posting. It's where I need/intend to get to again with my own eating habits, and what I had been doing back when I was in shape...it is an excellent reminder.

Sure, no worries. I'm glad you found it useful.

That's a fantastic idea. I pack my lunch into a large insulated bag and store that in the fridge in the office canteen (I know it sort of defeats the purpose, but...I've found that acquisitive colleagues are less likely to 'borrow' my lunch if I've got it zipped up).

Pro-biotics are microbes that are, amongst other things, supposed to keep your guts happy and healthy. Acidophilus, bifidobacteria, that sort of thing. Since my stomach occasionally tells me to eff off, I try to keep it appeased.

Ah yes you are taking the sensible and reasoned approach to eating.

I have heard of this, and read a few books on it as well and think I even had to take a class that was from the biology angle.

Alas I find myself with knowledge but no Wisdom.

But it is never to late.

It works for me, but it might/mightn't work for other people. I don't seem to have the trouble with carbohydrates that many people I know do - my 'curviness' was truly the result of a deeply ingrained propensity to under eat (it wasn't anorexia, but rather vagueness - I'd forget to do it most of the day). I shat my metabolism. Alright...that's too strong a term - if that were the case, I'd have dropped dead by now, I'm sure. (RIP Karen Carpenter)
An LJ mate of mine who I knew in real life back in the Ravens days has adopted a 'primal' eating style. He, much like yourself, works in health care and is taking a scientific an quantifiable approach to it. His LJ name is adamcrafter (for all I know, the two of you already know each other). At any rate, I think you'd find interesting what he's got to say. And the photos he posts of his dinner...me-oh-my.
