Dreams of a child
I haste to add once again NONE of this is completely my fault....... I blame..... I dunno, I blame me.
Dreams of a child
Arthur knew he was dreaming one of those dreams that he couldn’t easily break out of.
He smelt fresh blood and he could hear the sobbing of a child - following the sound he found a small lad lying in the grass, his pale skin covered in blood.
"Are you okay?" he asked the boy as he slowly moved closer to him.
"W-who are you?" the boy asked as he wiped the tears away, Arthur noticed he was shaking with fear. But of what?
"I'm Arthur," he smiled, "Who are you?"
The lad swallowed and whispered, "I'm Merlin."
The whole world seemed to stop as Arthur realized that this small, skinny, bloody lad was his Merlin. Merlin looked up at him, his eyes were full of fear.
"Please help me," the boy cried, "He'll kill me if he finds me."
"Who will? The man that's given you all of these cuts and bruises?"
"Yes," Merlin sobbed.
"Who is he?" Arthur asked.
"My father."
Arthur swallowed, how come his Merlin had never told him about his father?
He had told him he was dead, but Arthur had never been interested enough to ask about him.
"How old are you Merlin?" He asked.
"Five today," Merlin whispered.
Suddenly a mans voice called out filling the cold morning air.
"Merlin! Come here you little mongrel!"
Little Merlin grabbed Arthurs hand and whispered, "Run."
Arthur woke up with a start, his golden hair stuck to his skin like a second layer of skin and his whole body was boiling.
"Are you okay?" His Merlin whispered, "You were having a bad dream."
Arthur didn't tell Merlin about the dream, it would be too risky for someone to know about his 'gift'.
So he watches Merlin clean his room up swiftly, then he noticed the scar Merlin usually hid with his neck chief, the cut that had been fresh on the child’s neck.
Arthur had only told Gaius about his dreams and from his reaction he guessed it was magic. But when he had asked Gaius about Merlin’s father he hadn't got any reply.
From his dreams Arthur learnt about Merlin's magic and he saw the end of Camelot. One thing he didn't see was himself falling in love with Merlin.
