I am so with you on thought #2. The opposite occasions are one of my most passionate dislikes in the art world, with modern art pieces my main issue of argument. I hate, HATE looking at something and then realizing that it has a five paragraph write up posted on the wall next to it to explain why it's such a compelling, complex, and meaningful statement of society-changing art. They leave me feeling uninspired. Even scornful.
