I finally sent him an e-mail, telling him to fuck off and find another girl to drag down.

If you want a long long term commitment. You want a man. However, men are hard to find. Especially men younger than 50. I'm not kidding. I think it happens after midlife crisis stage or something. Yup. I would suggest getting your life together, figure out a more long term plan assuming singleness (I know yuck), and chances are someone will find you along the way. Don't put everything on hold for Zach though. He may come back to you, he may not. But putting your life on hold is not the answer.
