well my speaker's is 8, and they should be matching. so this is bad.

you might have trouble finding an external speaker that matches up.

how is that gibson bass you bought? i hope you appreciate me not bidding on that thing cos you found it first. i really want to get one like that now. unless it is shit. then i will have to reconsider.

yeah, i think i need to fix that up somehow. i might cram in a second transformer to get the 72 down to 9ish, which will make it another 2-3kgs heavier :/

the bass is pretty sweet. it's short scale though. it's like the cheap version of the cheap version of the famous sg style bass. i need thicker strings to compensate for the scale, and i suspect one of the pickups isn't working. but it's pretty sweet.

global vintage has a greco copy of the long scale gibson eb-3 for about $900?

Cant you jut put a resistor in your speaker line or something to draw the load? + I cant remember but isnt having a huge output impedance a bad thing in terms of an effiecent amplifier design?

it would make it more unlikely to break shit. and it would draw more voltage but the added resistance means less current, so the speaker itself would still get about the same power i think.

and yes it is. i used the original transformer but different tubes, and i assumed the impedance would be around the same (8 ohms) because the impedance of 4 valves in push pull doesn't vary much between tube types but i guess it does. one of my tubes might be blown now that i think about it.

did shit blow up?

not yet. it's just a fraction of the loudness it should be
