I CAN'T WITH THE SEXISM IN THIS FANDOM BECAUSE IT'S FULL OF SUCH AWESOME CHICKS. Like, I can understand hating someone like Cersei, because, duh, all of the balls-out evil, crazy shit she does. But when people hate on, idk, Sansa, I'm all 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING SHE'S A CHILD GO HOME.' And Dany-hate... just why would you even? Not only is she also a child, she's a class-A BAMF.

It's kind of weird because my favorite asoiaf character is a guy (Theon, swoooooon), but, like Cersei, I can understand any hate he gets because he's done some seriously awful stuff. Although, if I see anyone insisting that he ought to suffer more after ADWD, I will most likely promptly cut them. (not really, I tend to avoid needless wank, but I will rage at my laptop hard.)

This seems to be a reallly good fanmix! I don't know the songs but the lyrics fir quiet well.
I like Dany in the series a lot. She's beautiful, she's strong and fierce. Emilia made her very interesting and loveable :)
But in the book I think Dany is a bit boring. I mean what I have read so far never seemed to be as good as others chapters.
Well, but the in the show she's amazing :D

I like her storyline in the first few books, but it does get very slow and uninteresting after awhile, IA. Even so, she as a character is still so fantastically awesome. And Emilia is so great! Her line delivery is phenomenal. ♥

I've seen Dany haters! They do exist! Though, they tend to fall into the same pit as Cersei, Sansa, and Catelyn haters i.e. they only consider a character's actions on a morality scale and not the stunning nature of their flaw-free characterization. Or they're dudebros who are "bored" by "all of that shit in the East rawr rawr give me more sword fights and Tyrion whoring!"

Oh Dany, my complicated Dragon Queen. My issue with Dany is not her, exactly, but the fact that her storyline at the moment is treading water. She is George W. Bush and Meereen is her Iraq. She is a classic Chaotic Good character, to break out my inner D&D nerd. I find that element of her characterization fascinating - her burning need to Do Good and be a mother of her people to the point where she makes some really terrible life choices - but it's leading to some stagnation narratively-speaking. I'm also fascinated by the idea that some of the Targaryen madness may be seeping into her consciousness. So: I love her, but I'd like her story to have more forward

Ah, I can of course understand qualms with her morality or some of the decisions she's made, but if someone tries to use that as a legit reason to be all 'UGH DANY IS THE WORST,' I don't know how much I can buy it. Sure, if the world of asoiaf was full of goodness and bouncing puppies and such, her actions would be pretty repulsive in comparison. As it stands, though, it's a matter of grey in a world of grey. That's no excuse for anything she's done - bad things aren't made better just because there are other bad things out there - but it really makes singling her out for moral reasons alone kind of silly. Most everyone's actions are as bad as hers or worse

Yes, exactly. I don't read these books to enjoy upstanding moral characters. I read these books because I love the shit out of morally grey people and this series has them in abundance. I have no time for fans who complain about characters being "evil". I mean, yes it's a legit POV I suppose to like characters who are good, and dislike characters who are bad, but then I think people are missing out on the richness of the series. I don't play in fictional universes in order to enjoy people I'd like to have lunch with or be BFFs with. I play in fictional universes to enjoy interesting characters and situations.

I don't doubt that if we didn't get her POV and just heard about her dragon-riding, city-burning shenanigans from afar, most of us would think of her the same way we do crazy Aerys.

RIGHT? ugh I just shake my head when I see haters. I understand not liking her story (I think it's been declining a little personally) but Daenerys as a CHARACTER is just so fabulous HER ARC IS INCREDIBLE and unlike all of the other characters, she had no maesters or anyone to give her advice and teach her how to rule so she's pretty much forced to wing it and ugh I love her so much.

And omg thank you, yours is so pretty too. I love Sansa so much.
