Jon was starting to notice how twitchy Spencer kept getting when they walked past the main entrance where pedestrians walked.
They’d (Gerard, Frank, Ray, Bob, Mikey, Ryan, Brendon, Gabe, William, Travis, Pete, Patrick, Andy, Joe, Alex, Nate, Ryland, Chizzie, Sisky, Mike, Michael Guy, Carden, Butcher, Jade, Davey, Nils, Mat, Jonny, Bill, Tom, Trace, Mason, Shane, Maja, Victoria, Ashlee, and Greta) been able to take over the hotel with nothing more than rumors but Spencer was still tense.
“Spencer...” Jon started, not really wanting to push this conversation.
Spencer didn’t answer, just gave Jon one of his looks.
“No one is going to find out we’re here. Not unless we want them to.”
Spencer gave Jon another one of his looks that typically mean ‘you know nothing’.
“I’m not worried about the media. We have enough camera whores that I don’t think we’d be bothered much.”
“Then why are you do tense?”
“Oh, um...Well, it’s a surprise, Jon Walker.”
“You act like I can’t get Brendon to tell me.”
“Brendon is sworn to secrecy so don’t even try.”
“Mmm,” Jon didn’t seem to believe him.
“I’m serious, he’s not going to tell you. It’s a surprise. Isn’t that what Christmas is all about?”
“I’ll still be able to get Brendon to tell me.”
Spencer stopped mid protest/threat as Brendon walked skipped into the lobby, cradling a Costco sized bag of gummy worms in his arms while a can of Red Bull hung from one had.
“Brendon!”
“Nope, sorry Jon. I can’t tell you. You’ll love it though.” Brendon winking before prancing off to find Ryan.
Jon turned on Spencer.
“What did you do? I didn’t even asked. Fall all he knew I could have been asking where Ryan was.”
“But you weren’t.”
“You’re missing the point.”
“Just enjoy the time off, Jon Walker.”
“Only because you asked so nicely.”
And so Jon and Spencer settled down on a couch in a shadowed part of the lobby, just watching the holiday madness unfold before them.
They lay there for probably three of four hours; Jon laying on the couch with Spencer curled up in his lap, head resting on Jon’s shoulder and blue eyes flickering across the lobby. Jon was just content to lay there and trace designs on Spencer’s hip where his shirt had ridden up.
Spencer blinked, aware that Jon had stopped drawing hearts, flowers, and stars and was now writing something. He tried to concentrate on the letter but he had never been good at this. But Spencer tried. He had a feeling this was important.
I
Spencer felt his heart start to pound.
L
Oh God.
O
Was Spencer ready for this?
V
Spencer made sure that no muscle in his body moved and caused Jon to stop.
E
Jon’s other hand rested on Spencer’s shoulder.
Y
Spencer knew what he had to do.
O
He needed Jon to know.
U
“I love you too, Jon Walker.”
