Flying post to say - I downloaded an ebook reader to my laptop, in order to read a book I could only get in ebook format, and then discovered that fic from AO3 can be downloaded in this format too. Seems like a good way to tackle longer fics (which I used to print out to read - I know, phillistine - but by "used to" I mean "when I lived at home and ( Read more... )

I still print out longer fics to read (it helps that I can sneakily do it for free at work :D).
I love AO3 though I'll admit that I haven't really had much of a chance to read much fic since I found it. I love the fact that it lets you download stuff to an ebook, that's kind of awesome.

Hi, by the way! :)
I hope you've had a great summer and that you're looking forward to a lovely autumn.

Oh, thank you! It's Friday so we're reaching fever pitch.

I love all sorts of things about AO3 - like the possibility of orphaning fics so that writers can disassociate themselves from something they've written without removing the story from the internet. I'm sure there are loads of other little features like that that I haven't had the chance to discover yet.

IMO, the downside of it, versus LJ, is that comments on fics can be replaced with Kudos and that comment conversations don't seem to happen much.

I couldn't agree more about the Kudos system. While I guess it's nice to know someone's read and enjoyed something you've written it's so much nicer to hear what they thought and be able to actually talk to them. I think Kudos actively suppresses the possibility of that and it makes me sad :(
