3.
Jaejoong could not move, it looked as if he stopped breathing, and the only thing that he saw was the stunning man in front of him. Jaejoong couldn’t believe that the voice that scared and comforted him wasn’t just a voice from inside his mind.
Of course, Jaejoong was more than happy to find the owner of the voice, but, who was Jung Yunho? Jaejoong never remembered seeing Yunho at any time of his life. Even the name Yunho was never heard by Jaejoong until this day.
This fateful day, the day that it had rained, the day that he entered this mansion. Furthermore, Jaejoong felt like he belonged to this mansion, it welcomed him.
“How…my name…” Jaejoong stuttered. He wondered how Yunho knew his name, since he never mentioned it before and Junsu never said to Jaejoong anything related Yunho. For once; Jaejoong wondered. Junsu, Yoochun, Changmin and Yunho lived together. Were they anyhow related? Who was the owner of the magnificent mansion?
“I know a lot about you Jaejoong, more than you think.” Yunho said coming closer to Jaejoong, now standing beside Yoochun and Changmin. After Yunho stopped walking, Jaejoong started to breath again. Or so he thought that he was breathing again, because all that time, Jaejoong felt breathless, overwhelmed.
Gasping for more air, Jaejoong clutched his chest and dropped to his knees. He didn’t’ know why he felt so weak in the middle of them, he felt so inferior. Looking up, he saw Yunho, Yoochun and Changmin, with expressionless faces. Junsu a little bit more to the right, now with a worried expression written on his usually happy face.
The three of them felt so unapproachable, they felt superior to any human being, more superior to anything in this world. They felt fearless, instead of being the one causing fears. Their body seemed unable to be hurt; but they were the one causing pain in other bodies.
Even Junsu who seemed to be the one who was most approachable, was still far away from Jaejoong’s grasp. Jaejoong didn’t know why, but he just remained on the floor, looking at the four people in front of him, unapproachable.
Yunho sighed and turned around to leave, Changmin following him, but not before glancing at Jaejoong. Yoochun and Junsu helped Jaejoong up, but soon Yoochun left, whispering something in Junsu’s ear, probably instructions. After that Junsu guided Jaejoong to a room.
Jaejoong was still a little shaky, and he didn’t know why. Even though it was their first meeting, he didn’t mean to react that way, ‘Haha, now they must be thinking that I’m a complete idiot.’ Jaejoong took a deep breath as he saw Junsu pouring a glass of water, probably for him.
“Here hyung, drink this.” Junsu said, handing Jaejoong the glass filled with cold water. Jaejoong reached for the glass, not trembling anymore. Jaejoong sighed and started gulping down the water. After finishing, he handed the cup to Junsu.
Junsu sat beside Jaejoong, waiting for him to say something. They didn’t say anything for a long time; Jaejoong didn’t know where to start. So many things happened to Jaejoong ever since he felt that strange feeling of being watched. Well, it wasn’t a feeling anymore, someone really was watching Jaejoong.
How did Yunho stalk Jaejoong all that time and without him noticing it? Jaejoong didn’t know either. Jaejoong only knew that he was incredibly attracted to Yunho, but felt ashamed, it was their first meeting and yet Jaejoong was already drooling over him.
“So hyung, how are you feeling right now?” Junsu asked, breaking the ice and putting a hand on Jaejoong’s shoulder. An understanding smile was on his lips, as if Junsu knew exactly what was happening to Jaejoong, like he felt it himself.
“What really happened?” Jaejoong asked, turning his body to face Junsu. Jaejoong didn’t understand why suddenly felt so weak and helpless.
“I can’t really explain now… You’ll understand when you dream.” When you dream. These words echoed through Jaejoong’s mind, what was that supposed to mean? “Hyung, go to sleep, tomorrow morning you can take a bath, but right now, you need rest.” After saying that, Junsu handed Jaejoong a set of clothes, who changed quickly.
Almost automatically, Jaejoong slipped inside the blankets and closed his eyes. Jaejoong heard a soft click and the door closed, knowing that Junsu left the room, Jaejoong opened his eyes again. He didn’t see the details of the room before, but now a lot calmer, Jaejoong studied the room that he was in.
The room was beautiful, just like the rest of the house. The furniture looked old and Victorian-like, very beautiful indeed. A big window attached to the left side of the wall, the moon shining through it, hitting Jaejoong’s face.
Jaejoong turned, his right side supporting his weight. Jaejoong closed his eyes, remembering that tomorrow, when he woke up to ask Junsu a lot of questions. The most important one was ‘What are you?’ Even though Jaejoong thought that it was a rude question, he had to ask. Jaejoong chuckled a little to himself and fell asleep.
In his dream, Jaejoong was inside a room, not the one that he felt asleep in, but another one. A more beautiful one. On the bed a groaning moving lump. Jaejoong heard the door being opened and Yoochun was in front of the door, wearing strange 18th century clothes.
“Yah, Jung Yunho wake up.” Jaejoong heard Yoochun shout, kicking the lump. Jaejoong tried to say something, but nothing came out from his mouth, Yoochun didn’t seem to notice him either. Jaejoong realized, ‘I am dreaming.’ Usually you don’t know when you’re dreaming, but why did Jaejoong notice it?
Junsu said that Jaejoong would understand when he dreams. Jaejoong saw the lump sit up on the bed, back facing Jaejoong. Even though Jaejoong couldn’t see his face, he knew that it was Yunho, because Yoochun had shouted his name.
“You should respect the elders, brat.” Yunho said, hitting Yoochun on the head. Jaejoong thought that they had the same age, but this proved wrong.
“Come on, our age gap isn’t that big, not for us anyway.” Yoochun said, grinning like a fool. “Come on, Junsu is waiting and I don’t like to keep him waiting.” After saying that, Yoochun turned around and closed the door.
Yunho sighed and got up from the bed, wearing only loose pants. Yunho started to walk to Jaejoong. Jaejoong was almost panicking because Yunho was raising his arm, looking like he was going to grab Jaejoong’s arm.
Jaejoong closed his eyes and waited for Yunho’s hand reach his arm. But even after a while, Jaejoong didn’t feel anything; he opened his eyes and saw Yunho putting on a shirt. The shirt that had been hanging on the chair behind Jaejoong. Yunho’s hand passed through Jaejoong!
Jaejoong saw Yunho walking out from the room and even though Jaejoong didn’t go out with him, Jaejoong was now inside the dining room, the window behind him. Junsu was beside him, on the table, a glass filled with dark red colored drink, probably wine.
Yunho walked inside the room and greeted Junsu. Junsu handed Yunho the glass who drank it quickly, not leaving one drop behind. After finishing it he put on the table again and looked at Junsu.
“Are you alright? There’s no need to fear me.” Yunho said, smiling to Junsu.
“I’m okay, just worried about your soul mate, it’s been too long, don’t you think?” Junsu said, looking at Yunho. But Yunho just smiled sadly.
“Yoochun’s just lucky that he found someone before me, but I think that the right person is coming already, right?” Yunho said, looking out from the window. It looked like he was looking at Jaejoong, his intense eyes looking directly at Jaejoong’s eyes.
“My only hope is that he won’t freak out when you say that you’re a vampire, like I did when Yoochun told me.” Junsu commented, grabbing the glass before, filled with dark red liquid and walked out from the room. Yunho just ignored Junsu and smirked, fangs showing and eyes bloodshot. Yunho was a vampire, and that ‘wine’ was blood. Before Jaejoong could do anything, he felt the scenario fading away; he was waking.
Jaejoong woke up abruptly, sitting on the bed quickly, breathing short gasps. Not because of fear, but because of the shock. The strange dream that he had wasn’t supposed to mean anything, right? Yunho, Yoochun and Junsu as vampires? ‘Maybe I should start going to the psychologist.’
But even if they were vampires, things didn’t fit. Jaejoong had seen Junsu and Yoochun in broad daylight and they didn’t burn to death. Junsu had eaten Jaejoong’s homemade lunch with garlic in the middle of the food and he didn’t choke to death. Even Yunho who had a little cross earring in both ears wasn’t agonizing in pain.
And Changmin was alive, if they were vampires they would have drank all his blood and dumped the body on the nearest dark alley. Unless Changmin wasn’t human too, but then Jaejoong didn’t see Changmin in his dream.
Satisfied with the conclusion and smiling to himself, Jaejoong got up from the bed and wanted to go searching for Junsu. He looked at the clothes that he was wearing, wondering if they were presentable, in case he bumped into someone unknown.
Walking to the long corridor that yesterday he was too dazed to notice, he walked slowly to the staircase. Going down while looking around, partially appreciating that house’s decoration, and partially looking for Junsu, or someone who could tell where Junsu was.
Jaejoong walked just a little bit more when he heard some sound coming from a room. The room’s door was slightly open, and Jaejoong peered from it. Soon Jaejoong discovered that the room was actually the dining room.
Junsu and Yoochun were sitting on the chair, beside each other. Changmin was standing behind them, holding a glass filled with the same dark red liquid that was in Jaejoong’s dreams. Yunho was leaned on the windowsill also holding another glass, except an almost empty one.
Jaejoong wondered if the things that he had seen in his dreams were true. Maybe that dark red liquid wasn’t blood after all, only some ancient wine. Jaejoong wasn’t sure if he was supposed to interrupt the four men, but soon he heard Yunho’s voice inviting him to inside the room.
“Jaejoong, come join us.” Even if Jaejoong didn’t want to, he couldn’t help but to accept Yunho’s offer. Yunho’s voice had a strange ability to make Jaejoong obey, and Jaejoong didn’t really mind it.
Jaejoong pushed the door lightly, making a low creaking sound. He smiled shyly and greeted them with a low timid voice, but Jaejoong was sure that all of them could hear it. They all greeted him back, Junsu that was now standing in front on Jaejoong, being the loudest one. When the little polite greetings finished the silence crept on the room, they were waiting each other to talk about something.
“Jaejoong, what do you think?” Yunho asked, his low bass voice echoing through the room.
“That this is ridiculous.” Yunho didn’t mention the subject to Jaejoong, but even so Jaejoong replied him. Yunho was asking about the dream, Jaejoong was sure.
“Do you know now what we are? What I am?” Yunho asked Jaejoong, walking to Jaejoong and putting the almost empty glass on the table. Jaejoong hesitated a little, not really sure how to reply the strange question that Yunho had asked. Jaejoong’s mouth moved, not really cooperating with his mind.
“My mind thinks that you’re human, my heart is sure that you’re a vampire.” After saying that Yunho stopped dead on his track. At first Jaejoong thought that he had said something wrong because Yunho and the others seemed to be really surprised.
But then again, Yunho smiled, this time it was not a sad smile, but a relieved happy smile. Changmin, Yoochun and Junsu also seemed relieved, and the three of them were also smiling, happily.
“I’m sure that your heart is the right one.” Yunho said, walking even more to Jaejoong. Now face to face, Yunho reached his hand to caress Jaejoong’s face. The action bringing shivers to Jaejoong.
“But now, we have a lot of explaining to do.” They heard Changmin say, and almost immediately he sat on a chair, holding his chin in his hand and having a bored expression on his face.
“Should we start? Jaejoong doesn’t have forever.” Junsu said, smiling softly and pulling a chair for Jaejoong to sit.
“But soon Jaejoong, you’ll get a taste of forever.” Yunho said pulling the chair beside Jaejoongs and sitting down, ready to answer all the questions that Jaejoong had.
