Personality: Over the years, Itachi has had to lock up his heart - becoming cold and detached. Finishing the fight with his brother will not suddenly make him open up again, especially since he's so unsure of his situation. He is calculating, serious, and willing to lie if he believes it's for the greater good. He won't hesitate to kill someone if he thinks it's necessary, but will attempt to give those he believes innocent a chance to back down. There will be no easy making of friends, but neither will he go out of his way to make enemies.
He's generally soft spoken and polite, even if cold, when speaking with others. He does know how to act if he needs to, but rarely does he show real emotion (though he does have it).
Inherently, he's a good person. But he's definitely not a saint. There were probably many people he could have saved from being killed by Akatsuki but didn't because it wasn't worth blowing his cover. The only person who's life he holds above others is his brother. Some of his actions, however, showed a desire to keep many others from harm. When he fought the jounin in his first return after the massacre, he didn't try very hard to kill them, even using techniques that would wear him out almost as an excuse to leave. His visit even served as a sort of warning that Akatsuki would be after Naruto.
He helped get Deidara to join Akatsuki, yet at the same time this kept a rather dangerous person somewhat in check. (As a side effect, it also gave him a distinct loathing of the Sharingan that caused him to go all out against Sasuke - eventually blowing himself up in an attempt to destroy him.)
Finding himself in Luceti, Itachi will not be quickly opting for escape, though he may find the setting more than he deserves in an afterlife. Changes in his perception will take time.
(On a lighter note, according to the databook Itachi likes to visit traditional Japanese-style cafes. He likes cabbage and onigiri with seaweed in it while he isn't fond of steak.)
Strengths: Itachi is something of a genius when it comes to fighting techniques and strategies. He's clever, and capable of carrying out plans with years of setup behind them. There's little that can sway him emotionally from the tasks he's put forward for himself. Itachi has the ability to keep a stoic front no matter what he's actually feeling, and can be an incredibly difficult person to read because of this. He doesn't show weakness, and managed to keep most everyone from even knowing he was suffering a terminal illness until the end. Even when apparently being used by or following the orders of others he has a great amount of control over his own fate.
Weaknesses: Itachi's eyesight has been permanently damaged by the use of his Mangekyo Sharingan. It's never fully revealed how bad it is without his sharingan activated, but for the sake of Luceti I'm going to say he's completely blind without it. Even with it activated his vision is impaired, making him quite nearsighted. He'll have learned to live with bad eyesight to a degree by now, but it should still be hindering. He will also have lowered stamina, a result of his illness even though the illness itself is no longer an issue here. He also has something of a weakness when it comes to his brother in general.
Power summary:
At the time I'm taking him from he will have nothing but the very basic, basic Sharingan (and be lucky for that). The reason for this is that I've taken him from death, thus he's already passed all his eye techniques on to Sasuke. He still has heightened ninja agility and pin-point accuracy. Itachi would still be able to use basic ninjutsu (chakra-based ninja techniques) and genjutsu (illusionary techniques), just not the super strong Uchiha variety that can be activated just by meeting his eyes.
The Uchiha clan are also masters of fire jutsus, with Itachi and Sasuke being no exceptions. They can expel large bursts of flame from their mouths, whether in one big fireball or several smaller ones.
Itachi himself is kind of this mysterious entity. He has a lot of just crazy abilities to do things that aren't really ever explained. Since his abilities will be lessened while he's here anyway, we'll just nix these completely.
