[Sasuke is sitting on the roof of CH2, a bit out of the way and with a good overview of the place. He is resting his elbows on his knees, and is holding a black fabric pouch in his hands. He is waiting, patiently, for Itachi to come up here to tend his garden, or whatever other number of things he comes up here to do.
He is staring unseeingly at the pouch, turning it in his hands. Inside was Itachi's belated birthday present, and Sasuke was still debating with himself whether it was an as good idea as he had first thought, or if he should give in to the urge to throw it into one of the lakes. But since he had already mentioned the gift to Itachi he can't really back out, and he remains sitting, waiting.]
[Itachi is already aware of Sasuke's presence on the roof. He makes it his job to keep tabs on his little brother, after all. Nevertheless, he approaches his garden as if it's the same as any other day.
His actions over the course of the previous even have left him wary of how Sasuke might react now, but he'll no longer deny the boy the chance to speak with him.]
[Ah, he had arrived. Sasuke stands up and takes a few steps forward.] Aniki. [He reaches out the small pouch.] ... Here. Even though it's belated. They're from the jungle we fought in.
[And inside ARE... seeds. Because he noticed Itachi's garden, and having little knowledge or insight, he doesn't realize that Itachi is growing edible things, or that he might not be interested in strange jungle plants. They had looked rare and interesting to him, but what did Sasuke know about flowers? Awkward silence goes here.]
Thought not knowing what they'll become might be more interesting.
[Sasuke has no idea of the names of any of these, but there are some lantana seeds in there (which spread easily and are considered a weed, so be wary of those..), as well as black bats, varioustropicalorchids, and probably a few others. There might be a rafflesia mixed in there, too, which might warrant being wary of as well, as they grow big enough to eat faces.]
[Itachi takes the bag from him, handling it carefully and raising an eyebrow he opens it.
He doesn't recognize any of the seeds, not that he expected to, and planting them without doing research wouldn't be the best of ideas. Still, he's touched by the consideration.
When he looks back up at Sasuke, there's a light smile on his face.]
[The words are, again, somehow difficult to hear - it's not right, for Itachi to thank his murderer for anything. But seeing him smile makes things feel a bit better. Sasuke almost wants to smile back, but doesn't. He isn't in the habit enough. His voice brightens just a little, though.]
You're hard to come up with presents for. You... Hn.

[Rather than his brother being the type of person who has everything, it was more like he needed nothing. (Much like Sasuke himself, but as usual, Itachi probably beat him even in this.) Sasuke couldn't even prepare a shūgi bukuro, since this place had no money. It couldn't be helped, so he had tried to think of something that would be used, and wouldn't involve carrying or storage space. Sasuke sits down again.]
[He could have, and Itachi honestly wouldn't have minded, but he understood Sasuke's reasoning. That didn't make it any more easy to accept gifts from him after everything that had happened between them.]
[Grateful? The guilt eating at him is coming to the surface rather suddenly. It's not even just the guilt, it's everything. It keeps wanting to spill, and Sasuke obviously isn't strong enough to contain it properly. (Something else you beat him at, Itachi.) Won't stop him from trying, though. He grits his teeth, there's a hiss to his tone.]
Don't. Don't say things like that. It's a stupid gift.
[Pause. He gets up again, eyes hidden behind his bangs.] I'm glad you liked them.
[Sasuke will now be jumping off the roof and head to the forest to punch a tree until he feels better. Although he still receives IV every 24 hours, and should probably return to his bed rather than run around outside, he doesn't care.]
