2) Mike told me the NHL is dumping its own app and merging with ESPN+ for games. I need to look into whether or not that's the usual ESPN+ subscription or something else. But if so we'd probably be better off

I've heard a rumor that HBO Max and Discovery+ may merge. Could end up being a nice mix of "prestige shows", documentaries, and reality shows. Perhaps it might allow for more serious non-fiction shows like Discovery used to have

Discovery has bought a lot of assets from AT&T so it's in the process of taking ownership of all those, including HBO Max. AT&T TV itself has gone away and is now DStream, run by Direct TV. I think it's not clear yet if HBO Max will remain a separate streaming service. I think it's more likely they'll bundle it like Disney does with Hulu and Disney+. I'll be particularly interested to see what happens with pricing
