What the guy was saying was that if that assembly stopped even one person from having to go through what he and his friends did, it was not a waste of time. He wasn't trying to condone what they did, or ask for sympathy. He was saying that it is ignorant to think that just because you've heard something for 8 years doesn't mean someone else might not change there ways or think 2x about what they do. He was saying that he didn't care if they did this every year, it was never a waste of time, because it had the potential to save a life.
I never said that they were a waste of everyone's time. If a kid has a revelation after being told this since second grade and decides not to drive while they're drunk, then that's great for them.
It was a waste of my time, though. I could've been making up a test for LA or doing umm... anything else, and it would have been more productive. I don't drink, I never have and I don't plan to. I hate what alcohol can do to people and I just don't find it recreational in any way.
All I was saying was that I would've much rather been taking my Glass Menagerie test than standing in the cold watching something that really wouldn't have changed the way I thought.
