It's almost Cassini-Huygens Day!

There should be a party, but I don't think the orbital skydiving part would work here.

i'm from the future!, puter spae: where lika lives

Cassini-Huygens? I think I like Ben and Jerry's better. More stuff in it.

What's a Ben and Jerry's?

It's a big place where people buy lots of ice cream and then drop it like... five feet out the door. Which is fine by me. Not because I do anything with it, that'd be strange, I suppose. I just... like seeing people lose stuff.

Or not. Hey, I'm not gonna have to clean anything now, am I? 'Cause last time we talked I spent the rest of the day scrubbing. Sponges taste terrible.

[She's just going to gloss over that entirely bizarre description...]

The cleaning was your idea.

The day the Huygens probe touched down on Titan!

Titan...

[This sounds familiar.]

That's where you're from, right?

There are other kinds of holidays?

[She is genuinely confused. That's what holidays are for, Kevas.]

Why would anyone have a holiday and not celebrate? They're holidays.

[Linguistic misunderstanding. Lika's culture has events like Memorial Day, but they're not called "holidays."]

[Sky diving? Parties? You have piqued the rock star's interest.]

Any party that involves sky diving is a good party. Never tried anything out of orbit, though.

I go along if friends are going. I've never done one of the skill jumps, though. I just land wherever the computer puts me.

Computer? You let a computer control your fall? Where's the fun in that?

Reply

yousoundblue September 7 2009, 06:32:07 UTC
Because computers are better at it than humans are.

[Lika is confused by the thought of not letting computers run your life.]

I'm glad you're all right. Everything was so bad for a while. It hurt.

...You made me something?

[Glee! Gifts are awesome.]
