The Doctor known as Ears can't feel good about his situation.  It feels so intrinsically wrong, so deep in his gut and both his hearts, that any moments of peace as a vampire are hardwon and usually bloodsoaked, only coming when he has forced himself to forget himself.  More of himself.

The internal conflict is reaching Identity proportions.  If ( Read more... )

Horatio had been doing well to stay out of Cardiff - in fact, out of anywhere - during the first day or so of his fog-induced transformation. He had been on the verge, perhaps, of falling to sleep, too weak to carry on without blood, and remaining so until the effects of the fog ceased. Ears has only met the captain, this captain, once or twice in passing, but this shouts 'wrong' because everything to do with these vampires like himself shouts it. He looks up from his pacing warily, expression more than cautious. "Captain Hornblower. I think Jack's around here... somewhere. Kate's not."

"Please." When he speaks it's like a purr, soft and alluring and so right. "Call me Horatio." He doesn't entirely look like a Commander in His Majesty's Navy at the moment, does he?

"That's unfortunate," Horatio replies, caressing the doorway in a loving sort of way. He can feel the way the house tingles, just so, beneath the paint and in the wood - it doesn't usually feel like this, he's not in tune with anything under normal circumstances, and it feels so good. Even if he doesn't know what it means or why it's significant. "I do so enjoy Kate's company. She's lovely, isn't she? Sweet, innocent - naive."

There's just a slightly sinister edge to his loving tone, as if he just can't quite help himself from it. He looks up at Ears sharply, his grin feral. "Why are you so distraught, Ears? So tense, so on edge..."

Having just called Kate naive himself, in a conversation with Jack, the echo of his own words disturbs Ears further. He speaks carefully. "Can't you feel it? We're -wrong-, Horatio. As wrong as you get." He bites his oft-bitten lip again, drawing blood.

"Stay away from Kate," he adds, half afterthought.
