I know a lot of you probably don't care BUT...

I just yelled "I WANT TO PUNCH HER IN THE FACE!" at the t.v. because some girl said that if you want to tweak the color of your wall paint add black to make it darker. ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH.

I don't know. She wasn't the host, so that's good I guess? BUT STILL.

Basically add anything BUT black. If you just add black it will end up muddy looking. The color she had was a golden yellow and if you added black to it it would have ended up as a really crappy drab olive green, not a deeper yellow.

i can understand it if used in moderation. sure that's not how you are "supposed" to mix colors, but i love using tones and shades in my paintings. my bedroom wall color is a tone of purple, this really pretty medium dark muted color.

but yeah, for yellow that just sounds dumb.

I'm no painter, but I remember in high school we were like banned from using black paint for any reason in art class unless it was for something that was absolutely the blackest black. Otherwise we had to mix it ourselves and make our own "black". Even though I rarely paint, I think it was one of the best things I ever learned! By the way, I can't remember if I ever told you, but I love the illustration in your icon!
