The title of this post is a quote from the Report of the Church of England Faith and Order Commission (pdf) published today. Bishop Alan mentions it in is critical blog response to the report and someone tweeted it as a quote. I can't actually deal with reading this right now, I just wanted to mention, I found the title of this post mildly triggering - partly because it's not immediately obvious from that that it's not you saying this - I'd suggest putting it in quotes or something to make this clear?

Apologies. Have put quotes in now. If you can face reading, I would value comments. I cam speak personally on one aspect but not on others and would welcome feedback. I hope I haven't used terminology badly.

I almost wrote that I wished that someone who do work on the fact marriage has not always been about equality between a man and a woman. Charlotte Methuen has done that in an article

there are men and there are women and they should marry the opposite

That hardly seems Biblical: St Paul, especially, is pretty hot on the idea that nobody should marry anybody and celibacy is the best way to live. Marriage is a second-best state for if you really, really can't control yourself.
