This month's Poetry Fishbowl was quirky. First, I got off to a later start than intended because my 'net connection was down all morning. Then after I posted, it took over an hour to get any prompts. Then I got plowed by two very long poems, well over 500 words apiece. But once the ball got rolling, the results were very good, so I'm pleased.
There was a total of 27 comments, including mine, on the main post. The separate post of "With Respect to Fwoosh" got 10 comments, and even the closing post got 2 more. I wrote a total of 9 poems -- a little less than previous fishbowls, but with the two huge poems, the word count is probably similar or higher. I'm pleased with the line count on the poems, too, because the three rispettos fit the "under 10 lines" requirement for the
Dwarf Stars award. I also wrote three poems over 50 lines, which puts them in the "long poem" category for the
Rhysling Award. (Most of my poems are medium-length.) So if I can get these published, I'll have a nice size spread.
The February Poetry Fishbowl was supported by two donors,
tonithegreat and
haikujaguar. Also
haikujaguar sponsored the poem
"With Respect to Fwoosh" so that everyone could see it. Donors, I've posted an extra entry for you; somebody please let me know if you can see it, because this is my first attempt at using the custom-friends filter.
janetmiles, you're on that filter from last month. Thank you all for your support.
