Twilight Lovers

He is diurnal,
feeding on the sun's fire
and winging through high wild skies.

She is nocturnal,
making her way by moons-light
through the deep tranquil seas.

He is aerial;
his species lives and dies
without ever touching down.

She is aquatic;
her species swims its slow dance
through life and death and rebirth.

He is an engineer;
the sciences are his to manipulate,
assembling and disassembling marvels.

She is a priestess;
the matters of spirit are hers to embrace,
cupping them in her supple fins.

They meet in the twilight world
of cyberspace, building a bridge
between their species.

Here their bodies are quicksilver constructs
programmed by thought and will,
infused with love, and made for each other.
