This poem came out of the July 6, 2010 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by comments and prompts from
eseme,
siege, and
siliconshaman. I also looked up a list of
Zen vocabulary, though I already knew most of the words I actually used. This poem was funded by general donations, selected by the audience in a poll.
Zen hugs
we seek satori
but dukkha distracts us with
sighs of homesickness
through mental focus
samadhi grants connection
with distant loved ones
it is not enough
but Buddha's hands overflow
with great karuna
his inspiration
yields nanites that can send our
Zen hugs long-distance
