Poem: "The Conscience of the King"

This poem came out of the August 3, 2010 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by prompts from ellenmillion.  We did a barter arrangement for the sponsorship, in which she provided the delightful programming necessary to present this unique poem in its proper form.  It is, in fact, a poetic Tarot reading with a Celtic Cross spread, each verse describing a particular card.  I actually drew most of the cards from the Connolly Tarot to help write this poem, building on the original prompts (the King of Pentacles, a Tarot spread form, and ravens as portents).  It's about the challenges of creating a sustainable business, where you have to balance economic practicalities with environmental/social concerns, in a context where lots of other people are yelling at you.  I'm excited to be able to present the poem to you thanks to ellenmillion's donation of her programming skill and time.  Sometimes technology is just ... made of WIN.
