Turtles and the Sea
When the eggs hatch,
the sea turtles emerge from the sand
and make their way down the beach.
They have never seen the sea,
but they know where it lies,
and they know to go toward it.
They are guided not by experience
but by instinct, secret wisdom
written in their infant bones.
It is the same force
that turns our souls toward the divine,
seeking a heaven we have never seen.
Faith is nothing more than the notion
that the sea will be there
for the turtles that go toward it.
