Poetry Fishbowl Report for July 3, 2012

Jul 07, 2012 15:20

The July theme was "alternate history."  A surge of prompts arrived early, with a few more trickling in through the day.  I worked from 12:15 PM to 3:15 AM, so roughly 13 hours 15 minutes, allowing for breaks.  Length varied, mostly medium with a handful of epics and one short poem.  A majority used single prompts but a few combined prompts.  Form poems included an indriso, haiku verses, a blended form, and some other stuff.

A total of 16 people sent prompts.  You have new prompters tomtac and DW user thnidu to thank for the second freebie poem, and thnidu sent a donation too.  Yay!  Also there was a lot of crosstalk among prompters this month, some of which spawned new poems.  It's always fun when the audience turns the fishbowl into a house party.  You also did an awesome job of requesting history from around the globe: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe all got tapped.  6 out of 7 continents, rah-rah educated readers!

Buy Some Poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the list of unsold poems from July.  That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available.

I have sent backchannel copies to the prompters, and all sponsored poems have been posted.  All perks are qualified.  Per the $200 goal, there is a poll for the free epic series and individual poem.  Per the $250 goal, that's one tally toward a bonus fishbowl.  Per the $300 goal, I'll post a piece of bonus material for a poetic series.    The generally sponsored poetry poll is open through Saturday evening.

The call for themes is still open.  Come request your favorite topics that you'd like to see featured in a fishbowl!  I'll gather the suggestions and post a poll, probably on Monday.  The most popular items will get slotted into my calendar for future fishbowls.

Remember that there will be a half-price poetry sale running July 16-22, featuring the series One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis.

The donor perk this month is " Linchpins and Ripple Points."  Donors for July include marina_bonomi, je_reviens, Stephen Laird, morrigans_eve, DW user thnidu, Anthony & Shirley Barrette, rix_scaedu, zianuray, and the_vulture.  Please welcome new donor thnidu.  Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm.

For those of you who frequent my website, I have reorganized some stuff.  The Serial Poetry page now appears under the tab My WorkThe Silk Road Allies appears under My Work > Shared Worlds.  So far the contributors to The Silk Road Allies include me, thesilentpoet, and marina_bonomi; all poems now, but we expect to add other things eventually.

The Poetry Fishbowl project also has a permanent landing page.
