Poetry Fishbowl Report for January 8, 2013

Jan 16, 2013 12:14

Our theme this month was "military science fiction." (Guest themes of disability and crudity also appeared.) I worked from 11:45 AM to 4 AM on Tuesday, then a little more later in the week. That comes to 14 hours 15 minutes, allowing for my usual breaks; a new record. Prompts were a fairly steady trickle most of the day. I wrote 18 poems on Tuesday plus another 7 later on, and I still have notes for more in my series files. You-all were very generous with leading comments and questions this month. Yay, yay!

I had a good handful of form poems. Plenty of the poems combined prompts, though some are singles. The size ran long, with lots of epics. There was very little short or medium-short poetry.

Activity was okay this month, with 46 comments on LiveJournal. The 17 on Dreamwidth is a definite spike in activity there. Please welcome new prompters
chordatesrock and
wytchcroft. You have them to thank for the second freebie poem. Also
chordatesrock has been very helpful in research and development for my new series An Army of One: The Autistic Secession in Space. *applause*

Buy Some Poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the list of unsold poems from January. That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available. The linkback poem " No Secrets" (One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis) is now complete.

All currently sponsored poems have been posted. I've sent backchannel copies of the rest to their respective prompters. Per the $200 goal, " Rigging the Game" (Path of the Paladins, from 12/4/12 fishbowl) is the free epic. The general fund polling is concluded. Per the $250 goal, there will be a bonus fishbowl on Tuesday, January 22 featuring the series Fiorenza the Wisewoman. Per the $300 goal, there will be a half-price sale in one series, to be bumped into February. You'll get to vote on that later.

The donor perk is " The Poetry of War."  Donors this month include
technoshaman , LJ user janetmiles, Anthony and Shirley Barrette. Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm.
