This poem is from the April 2, 2013 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by thnidu.  It has been sponsored by janetmiles.  It also fills the #8: Folio slot in the Vellum list for the Rainbowfic fest.

Beastly Myths

The adolescents gathered together,
giggling, over the cheap folio
of beastly myths:

the black-and-white dragon cat
whose breath weapon came out its bum,
the ludicrous duck-beaver with its venomous spurs
that supposedly laid eggs and nursed its young,
and the long-necked cow in orange polka-dots
that surely wouldn't survive with no means of defense.

"This is filly stuff,"
said the young centaur mare,
scratching her belly with a hind hoof.
"Nobody would ever believe in these!"
