Here is the freebie for the May 7, 2013 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was prompted by ellenmillion.  It also fills the #20 Dazzling slot in the Rainbowfic Sunlight list.

Ohm's Lawyers

A resistor is a passive two-terminal component
of a circuit that implements electrical resistance.

The current through a resistor reflects in direct proportion
the amount of voltage crossing its terminals.

A resister is an active or passive political component
of a culture that implements social resistance.

The current through a resister demonstrates in direct proportion
the amount of outrage crossing his or her awareness.

These are Ohm's lawyers, vigilant gatekeepers
supervising the flow of energy through complex systems.

They are necessary to complete the circuit, vital to function,
and if disrupted -- there will be a dazzling display of sparks.
