This poem came out of the November 5, 2013 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from Anthony Barrette. It has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette.
Together We Must Come
The seasons of our lives
Take us around the Wheel;
Together we must come
To share what we all feel.
The east begins with birth
A life as new as dawn
To rise above the past
Fresh hands to carry on.
The north is pride of place
On graduation day
As men and women stand
To venture their own way.
The west is wedding's own
That lifts the snowy veil
To kiss the future's lips
To love and never fail.
The south comes last of all
With funeral and flame
To send beloved dead
To glory and to fame.
The feasting table groans;
We strike the bell and drum.
To mark the changing times
Together we must come.
