Poem: "A Bad Day in Bed"

Jan 12, 2014 20:30

This poem came out of the January 7, 2014 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by several quotes prompted by janetmiles.  It also fills the "bad day" square in my 11-26-13 card for the Origfic Bingo fest.  This poem has been sponsored out of the general fund, based on an audience poll.

Attention: Although not very explicit, this poem is humor about mishaps of an adult nature.  Think about whether that's to your taste before clicking through.

A Bad Day in Bed

There are things
that you don't want to hear
from a playpartner.

Sometimes it's a solution-caused problem.
A lack of appropriate suspension gear
can lead to improvisations
that don't work as well as intended.

"The fire-suppression sprinkler
is not a bondage attachment point."

Other times you have the right gear
but suffer equipment failure anyway
when something breaks or jams.

"Does anyone have access
     to a pair of bolt-cutters?"

Then there are problems
that emerge out of your blind spot
to hit you like a runaway truck.

"No, I didn't tell you she was dating someone else.
You didn't seem to want to know."

Pay attention;
think it through.
A little foresight can
prevent a bad day in bed.
