I'm actually still working on some prompts from this fishbowl, but I've done at least one poem for every prompter and really need to get this list posted.
"Echoes of Another" -- 430 lines, $215 SOLD
Your vampire prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Echoes of Another." Victor and Igor interrupt the villagers' vampire hunt and take care of the victim.
August brought dry weather and sultry heat,
the market square filling with many fruits.
Victor and Igor bought a bushel of cornels for
making breakfast preserves and healing syrup.
Adam stuffed himself with bilberries,
turning his fingers purple and blue.
There were plenty of herbs, too.
Dénes had gone picking guelder rose
for making spirits, and brought back some
of the bark that was so good for cramps,
along with bundles of wood betony
for sore heads and shattered nerves.
"The Nature of His Game" -- 92 lines, $46 SOLD
Your experiment prompt inspired the free-verse poem "The Nature of His Game." Victor's attempt to make horses go faster gets a surprise boost from Adam wrecking his lab. This poem happens in mid-July.
Victor never had gotten over
his interest in biology and electricity,
even after he discovered how to make Adam.
His latest fascination had to do with
finding ways to make horses go faster.
He had mentioned this premise
to Borbála the alchemist
whilst buying supplies.
"Sânziene" -- 152 lines, $76 SOLD
This inspired the free-verse poem "Sânziene," which is the Romanian name for midsummer. Victor and Igor celebrate in their village, with help from a traveling alchemist who brings fireworks.
On the summer solstice,
the villagers celebrated Sânziene,
a festival to honor the good fairies.
Victor and Igor did not particularly believe
in that kind of superstition, but it was
still fun to join the celebration,
and even Kálmán the priest
turned a blind eye to
the pagan implications.
"Walk in a Storm" -- 252 lines, $126 SOLD
This contributed to the free-verse poem "Walk in a Storm." Two bedraggled travelers show up at the castle door. Igor and Victor take care of them. This poem happens in late April.
The castle was old,
and even with repairs,
the slate roof rattled in the wind
and the wooden windowframes creaked.
The thick fog of evening
had been washed away
by the gathering storm,
the whole world lashed
with wind and rain.
" When the Road Is Bent" -- 364 lines, $182 In microfunding now
The Gypsy prompt led to the free-verse poem "When the Road is Bent." A caravan comes to the village with hints of trouble in the mountains. I wove in some Romani sayings, and yes, I went with Căldărari metalsmiths.
In early July, a caravan
of Căldărari came to the village
just as Victor and Igor reached the market.
Most of the vardos were round
with colorful canvas covers,
pulled by one or two Gypsy Vanners,
striking in pinto coats and feathered feet.
"Who Finds a True Friend" -- 484 lines, $242 SOLD
Continuing your vampire prompt is the free-verse poem "Who Finds a True Friend." Igor makes further arrangements for the care of an injured vampire, which causes some unexpected complications.
