Poetry Fishbowl Report for Tuesday, December 9

Dec 11, 2008 12:48

Tuesday's poetry fishbowl went quite well. I was worried about connection issues, but the net stayed up, if not always at full speed. I started a few minutes past noon and kept going until 1:30 AM, so that's about 11 1/2 hours allowing for breaks. Whew! I wrote 20 poems. Most were free verse covering a single prompt, but I had a couple structured poems and a little rhyme. There were 53 comments including mine, and 15 people sent prompts -- plus wcq who was referenced by both browngirl and dianavilliers. (If you're into science or science fiction, definitely check his blog; it's good material.) Ten of the fishbowl poems are already posted online:

"As Genius Does"
"Birthdust"
"A Day in the Life of Marie Curie"
"Hourglass Figures"
"Laika's Trail"
"Magic Wands and Wrenches"
"Pointing the Way"
"Science Diction"
"Silicon Spindles"
"The Spiral of Life"

There will be one more poem appearing; I need to post a poll for the general donation poem. This month's donors are: minor_architect, janetmiles, haikujaguar, beetiger, dianavilliers, newroticgirl, browngirl, and moosl. Thank you all so much for the inspiration and donations. The goal ($120 for a meat package) was met with a little extra, so I can haz cheezburger nao! That also makes this the most productive month so far. I'll try to get the donor perk-post uploaded later today.

This fishbowl was really exciting. I got to revisit some favorite topics (space exploration, Nikola Tesla) and explore some others (like bridge construction) that were new to me. You folks make great muses!
