Strange politicians keep appearing grinning on leaflets. I feel like putting a sign on the door saying, "We have thrown away our voting cards, kindly leave us alone."
First, it's the European elections. They're totally irrelevant. No MEP does a thing for Britain because any help they give Britain endangers their place on the gravy train. The election is like having a raffle to decide which burglar gets to ransack your home.
Second, all British elections for the past decade have been rigged. Deceased and non-existent people acquire postal votes and vote Labour. Odd, that. There have also been cases where people were bullied into voting Labour, including recent immigrants to the country with little command of English and no idea where to go for help when threatened.
So my little vote is worthless. No vote matters unless it is a free and fair election, and I can't remember when we last had one of those.
Third, democracy is bunk. Even when it works, it gives the person least disliked by the mob. No-one is elected on their merits, they are elected on the fact that they seem harmless in comparison to the others. In fact, the good people are weeded out early. If ever you believe that government by the mob is a good idea, consider revolutionary France.
We tried democracy. It didn't work. Anyone who can point to Brown, Blair, Bush, Obama, Major and Clinton and tell me that democracy gives us the best leaders must be smoking something illegal.
