Yu Ling waited at the front by the school gates waiting for her boyfriend to arrive.  Miki was so useless, he could never be here on time and Yu was not about to be late for class because of him. Still if he was her boyfriend it was his job to walk her to class, it was an embarrassment if your boy didn't.  She wasn't about to look bad in front of ( Read more... )

Miki pressed his feet down hard on the peddles, shooting his bike down the side walk. He swerved around people all the while calling out "Excuse me." Occasionally, he was forced to squeeze between the sidewalk and a park car to avoid a rather large crowd blocking the sidewalk. Every day he was almost late for school.

A shrill shriek sounded from his bike's brakes as he came to a halting stop in front of the bike rack. As he hopped from the large bike, he checked the time on his watch. Good, he had plenty of time to talk to Yu Ling. After yesterdays talk with Toriyama, Miki was finally ready to end the relationship he had somehow got himself stuck in.

Yu looked around at the sound of a bike shriek, was it Miki? She headed closer to the bike rack looking for the shorter boy. Surprisingly it was easier then expected. "There you are." she said as she approached him.

Wrapping the chain around the bike and the rack, Miki struggled to clamp the lock shut. The sound of Yu Ling’s voice only meant that Miki would be forced to face her in a matter of moments. The more Miki considered this, the harder it was to fasten the lock.

Miki had been planning for this moment for over a week now. Last Sunday, he had met up with Toriyama to celebrate his friend’s birthday. During the party, Miki had confiding in Ichiro for advice, and Ichiro had given it to him. He would have followed Ichiro’s advice immediately, but finals had prevented him from doing so. At least he didn’t have to worry about how to handle the situation during finals.

The tiny clink of metal signified that the bike was securely fastened. Miki gulped, still look at the chain, before he stood back up to face Yu Ling. He had to do it. It was now or never. “Tai-chan…?” he began, nerves already clawing him.

Yu blinked at the use of her last name. Why was he trying to be serious. "Are you ready to go to class?" she asked politely.
