The bushes rustled slightly before going still. After a moment, a small fuzzy head with bright golden eyes and large ears peeked out from the underbrush and peered about. The ears flicked before the mammal crept forward. She looked much like an Eevee, though slightly larger. Her eyes glanced about cautiously as she moved, tail lashing behind her.
After a moment, the Pokemon sat down and huffed. No matter where she went, she found nothing but island. She had been trying to find some method of escape, only to find more island and dead-ends. She had even tried entering the human village to sneak on a boat, only to find herself repelled by the barrier.
She was starting to see why the scientists hadn't been too bothered by her escape. There was no where for her to escape to. She was a prisoner in a slightly larger cage, that they could then re-capture at their leisure.
"Wonderful..."
Miyuki tensed when she heard the bushes rustle, half excited, half scared of what would emerge. To her surprise a pokemon unlike any she had seen before appeared. It was rather cute, and seemed almost harmless.
However, on Shinka Island looks were deceiving.
Undoubtedly a pokemon that wasn't in any of her parents' databases would be a once in a lifetime find. Miyuki vaguely recognized it as looking like an Eevee and wondered if there were mutated Eevees on the island. It was thought that the evolution pokemon, if brought to the island, would likely die outright from the radiation. If this pokemon really was an Eevee that actually survived, it must have been incredibly strong.
Miyuki had to catch it.
The young wannabe Pokemon Trainer expanded her Master Ball. She barely resisted the urge to shout, "Pokeball go!" like she had seen documentaries of Pokemon Trainers do when trying to catch a pokemon as she flung the ball with all her might at the pokemon. While that would have been cool, it would alert the pokemon to her presence.
Of course the fact that the tree branch that she was on snapped due to her weight and sent her tumbling to the bushes below made far more noise than anything she would've shouted. It also made her miss hearing the pokemon speak.
The Pokemon jumped, jerking about instantly. Her eyes widened and her ears pricked as her entire body went tense. Unfortunately, she turned about just in time to see a Pokeball coming right for her head. She let out a strangled shriek as the Pokeball hit her forehead before snapping open.
...And then, there was darkness.
"Ow..." Miyuki moaned as she rubbed her helmet covered head. She blinked repeatedly, as she realized what had happened, and tried to quickly climb out of the bushes. It was only lucky for her that she was wearing so much protective gear.
"Did I catch it?" Miyuki asked aloud anxiously even though there was no one else there as she got back to her feet. She looked around and let out a triumphant cry as she saw the Master Ball and no angry pokemon in sight. Immediately she ran over to snatch up her powerful pokeball with a giggle of delight. She hugged it to her chest and bounced around excitedly. "I got it! I got it! I got it!"
The thought that she may have missed the mystery pokemon never crossed her mind. The fact that the pokemon wasn't currently attacking her was a sign enough for her that she managed to capture it.
"Come on out!" Miyuki shouted as she held out her pokeball, unable to wait until she was back at the city to see her new best friend and partner.
Nothing happened.
Miyuki blinked repeatedly then remembered something. "Oh, right," she muttered, blushing, before pushing the proper recall button on the Master Ball and throwing it forward. She had been so excited she forgot the proper way to let out a pokemon. "NOW come on out!"
The light flashed before the strange Eevee appeared on the ground. She grimaced and shook her head to get her senses back. She was disoriented, wondering what exactly had happened, when she caught sight of Miyuki. She tensed and jerked her head up to stare at the human girl, a horrible realization coming to mind.
She had been caught inside a Pokeball.
Miyuki let out a delighted squeal as she saw her partner and clasped her hands together around the Master Ball as she caught it when it automatically returned to her. "It worked!" she giggled happily. "It really worked! I caught a pokemon!" She wasted no time in hurrying over to kneel down by the Eevee-like pokemon and attempted to hug her new partner. "You're so cute!"
The Pokemon crouched, fur bristling as she snarled angrily at Miyuki. She flashed her fangs at the girl, very much intent on biting off whatever body part got too close to her.
How dare this human capture her, and then have the audacity to try and touch her! Filthy, disgusting humans and their egotistical little games!
Miyuki froze mid-hug and immediately lunged backwards with a frightened squeal. "Wh-wh-what?" she squeaked as the false security the Master Ball supposedly provided evaporated and her fear of pokemon returned in full force.
The Pokemon slunk back, fur bristled as she glared at Miyuki. She couldn't even begin to explain how angry she was. Being trapped in a little ball without even her consent, some human automatically assuming that the Pokemon would allow herself to become a slave, it was just too much!
"You! How dare you!" she hissed, absolutely livid.
"Y-you can talk?" Miyuki gasped as she gawked at the pokemon, completely stunned. She thought that it was impossible for pokemon to communicate outside of noises unique for their specific type, which were used to name them.
"What's it to you!?" the Pokemon growled as she backed away slowly, putting more distance between the human and herself. She had to get away quickly, before the girl decided to use the Pokeball to recall her.
She'd only be safe if she was out of range.
Miyuki quickly scrambled to her feet as she clutched her Master Ball close to her chest. "You... but I... I don't understand," she stammered. "I caught you in my pokeball. That means you're my friend now and you're my pokemon. Why are you so angry at me? And how are you talking to me?"
"So you think that throwing that piece of junk at me and trying to enslave me is going to make me like you!?" the Pokemon scoffed. "Even if it was true, you find nothing wrong in forcing someone to obey you!? Just like an arrogant human!"
Miyuki stared at the pokemon, completely at a loss. Her mouth opened and closed, but for a number of moments no words came out. "...But... but I... I thought... all the documentaries... other pokemon... they..."
"Documentaries!" the Pokemon scoffed, still baring her teeth at Miyuki. "Oh right, like Pokemon are going to do what a bunch of humans tell them to do, simply because the humans want them to do it! You might be able to bully the weaker ones, but you can't bully me!"
"But... that's how it works!" Miyuki protested, starting to wonder if this was all a dream. "People capture pokemon and they become friends and the pokemon listen to their trainers in battles and they're partners!"
"Partners!? Try slaves!" the Pokemon growled. "No one asked them! They just got smacked in the head by that stupid ball and trapped, only to be let out whenever the human wants them! Where's the partnership in that!?"
"B-but..." Miyuki protested, at a loss for how to argue, as tears started to form in her eyes. "I... I just... wanted to be friends..."
The Pokemon was a bit taken back by the sight of tears, but she quickly reminded herself that she was talking to a human. The human was no doubt crying that things weren't going her way. "Friends by throwing that thing at me!?"
"U-uh huh," Miyuki sniffed as she wiped at the tears trickling down her cheeks. "W-wild pokemon... only become friends with people... after they're caught. Otherwise they fight people! And... and pokemon here try to kill you! So... so I thought..."
The Pokemon's cheek twitched at that. The conversation was going nowhere, and she was wasting time she could be spending fleeing for her freedom. Besides, even if the human was crying for a selfish reason, it still bothered her.
She needed to get away.
With that in mind, the Pokemon turned to bolt.
"W-wait!" Miyuki cried as she saw her pokemon run off. She didn't think about her next action, she just reacted, by pushing the recall button on her pokeball and aiming it the fleeing pokemon.
Unfortunately for the Pokemon, such an action was exactly what Miyuki should have done. A bright flash issued, followed by the Pokemon's cry as it suddenly disappeared back in to the ball.
Miyuki stared blankly as the pokemon disappeared and stared down at her Master Ball, nowhere near as happy as she had been just a few minutes ago. She was too confused about what had just conspired. This sort of incident never happened before, at least not from anything she had seen.
"...I need to talk to mom and dad about this."
So now you must be wondering, "Where's the skit? I came here today to see what sort of funny skit you'd do with this episode and you disappoint!" If not then you must be thinking that my logo for Fan Fiction Foibles is the prettiest thing ever. I know, I know, I love it too.
In answer to the question you never asked, the reason why this episode isn't funny and the real reason why the Easter episode was eaten, and not to mention the conspiracy of the tangled web of the conspiracies such as why food bad for you tastes good and why food good for you tastes bad and why puppies have perfected the art of the doe-eyed look is t
