Hi, I ran into one of your icons (this one) being used by another person and I was wondering how you got that "streaky" effect, the horizontal stripes. Care to share the secret with another icon-maker? ^_^

Sure. :D

I used Paint Shop Pro 7 to make that icon. I can't remember exactly was I did, but I'll try to give you the basic idea. ^_^;

First, open whatever image (duh) and then copy it. Paste that as another layer.

Next, go to effects>geometric effects>wind. Chose either direction and set the strength to 20. Next go to effects>sharpen>sharpen more.

Using the same layer, change the blend mode to 'hard light' or 'overlay'. Play around with the opacity till you're satsified.
