It's been one week

So... being born and raised in California, I never really came in contact with earthquakes much before (I think I've experienced about maybe like two magnitude 3 earthquakes and that was it) so the Touhoku Kantou earthquake really shook me up. I kind of stood staring off into space the first 20 seconds thinking "um... what?" before I snapped back ( Read more... )

It's ok. It can be hard to react during an earthquake especially in Japan since you never know if a small tremor will suddenly jolt into a big one. I think I would've been the same just pausing for a moment before realizing I should take cover. And I watched the news when the earthquake had first occurred and there were reports of the tsunami warning. But nothing prepared me for the actual real time video shot of it coming to shore. It was just something too extraordinary and unbelievable ( ... )

I LOVE Bill Nye the science guy! *random spazz* lol, my grammar is all messed up too. I think engrish really de-graded my English skills *sob*

I heard he was on CNN but I couldn't find the clip anywhere D: Anyhow, yea, I'm not sure what's going on because it seems like Japanese medias (or government, or whoever) aren't sharing everything they know. Some of my Japanese friends are really laid back about it too (most of them seemed to worry more about earthquakes and tsunami than nuclear power plant D: wut...)

Apparently they evacuated a lot of Americans to southern Asian countries (mostly families of government officials/military/etc. though). And a lot of them are heading back to America from there... What do I do what do I do?!

You're from here but didn't experience many earthquakes? Which part of California are you from? I live in the Bay Area, we get quite a few of them...but nothing like Japan has had in the last week! Check out this map of them all: http://www.japanquakemap.com/

久しぶり。。。I'm glad you (and your family?) are okay. I think low levels of radiation are not really a threat. From what I've read, I'm probably getting more radiation sleeping with my computer and phone on beside me and using the microwave than Tokyo is right now ( ... )
