I like how you managed to make Shuichi have more dimension, I wouldn't say he was flawed, but very human. Too many times he is the fallen sparrow.

Thanks, I agree... I got a review somewhere that didn't like the suicide, and I thought about it, about if it was appropriate or not, and finally decided that it was. What killed Shu in the end wasn't simply that Yuki didn't want to be with him or didn't love him. It was the fact that Yuki did love him, had always loved him, and he himself was the one to destroy all of that. He himself precipitated the end of the thing that he had wanted for so long...

Anyway, glad you like! Haha. I ended up ranting a bit... :)

I just left a review of this on Gurabite, and I agree with you - based on the story leading up to it, the character death was earned and appropriate, and I hate character death. Shuichi couldn't live with the fact that he'd taken Yuki's love, which he assumed he didn't have, and carelessly destroyed it. And I loved Shuichi's dying wish to meet Eiri/Yuki again on the other side in a couple of decades and hope not to screw things up again ( ... )

This was incredibely sad and very wonderful. I wanted to cry as I read the end...but somehow I knew it would end up like that. Face it, Shuichi fucked up and he knew it.

I think I'm going to go watch something happy on TV now...before I break down.

Excellent job. You should post this on Gurabite, the rest of the world should read it.
