DCMK Youkai!verse
So I've had a plunnie running through my head for the past couple of days (that has popped up every now and then in the past but only now is viciously latching on). This whole 'verse functions on a bunch of presuppositions and headcanon and a fusion of some rps that 99reddrifloons and I are doing.
Headcanon things!
Kaito and Shinichi are cousins, and Yuusaku and Toichi are twin brothers. Yuusaku changed his name because authors sometimes do that for better sales.
Chikage is half-French, making Kaito quarter-French. Kaito grew up bilingual, fluent in both Japanese and French.
Kaito knows all about Conan (as evidenced in the 14th movie!), and knows about their relationship, too, but is keeping it secret from him because it's a sensitive topic he wants him to find out on his own.
Youkai!verse stuff!
Basically, Kuroba is named such because the Kuroba clan is an ancient tengu clan. I like symbolic names, shush The Kuroba clan is actually pretty big, but prefer to have as little dealings with humans as possible in order to keep their bloodline pure.
Toichi and Yuusaku are both purebred tengu, and their wives know, but their kids don't.
Halfbreeds will begin showing youkai features around the onset of puberty, if they haven't had any since birth. If nothing shows up at puberty, chances are nothing will ever show up, and the halfbreed just becomes a human with a bunch of youki.
Kaito, being a halfbreed, had his wings come in around puberty (Haibane Renmei-style). Shinichi's wings never came in.
Conan's youkai blood helped him fight off the apotoxin. Ai just got lucky.
Hattori Hanzo is half-oni, making Heiji quarter-oni. His mother's side is descended from miko, so he has an interesting mix. Kazuya is distantly related to Heiji on their mothers' side, so she has some miko in her, too. This is why her omamori work.
Conan's youki is why humans tend to carry out their murder plans when he's around. The effects stack with Heiji's youki, which is why corpses actively come to them. Heiji's odd mix of youkai/miko blood is why he doesn't have the same problem when he's alone. That, and he knows how to control his youki. Also, Conan has no idea he's even part youkai, and therefore has no way to control his youki. This is why people don't just die whenever another youkai is around.
Youkai have their own sub-society that is separate from humans. When they do things as humans, they are bound by human laws. But when they do things as youkai, youkai laws apply. Youkai also work everywhere to help keep themselves safe and secret from humans.
Heiji and Kaito are keeping the fact that Conan's youkai secret from him. Both realize this could shatter his worldview and pretty much lead to a Heroic BSOD.
Hakuba eventually finds out about Kaito's wings...Somehow. Numerous plunnies are attacking me about this. But he helps keep Kaito's secret (after the whole "but youkai aren't real" bit).
Why am I writing all this down? Because I totally plan to start writing in this 'verse. And I'm probably going to write some established!verse oneshots, which might be just a bit confusing without background.
