Comments: One of two big breaks for Brendan Fraser in 1992 (the other was Encino Man), School Ties is a 1950s boys boarding school story along the lines of the better-remembered Dead Poets Society. The focus is on David Green, a working-class high-school senior from Scranton with a talent for football and an eye for Harvard. He's given a scholarship to an exclusive boarding school (populated with the likes of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Anthony Rapp), and he's told to keep one of the major aspects of his life--the fact that he's Jewish--under wraps. It works out great at first, but the truth will out, and David faces the fact that his new friends might not be quite so friendly once they find out that they've only been assuming that he's a Christian like them ( ... )
