Comments: Princeless is a comic for people who like fairy tales and fantasy, but maybe not the associated tropes. Adrienne is a princess in a kingdom where being shut in a dragon-guarded tower is a coming of age ritual, and she resents the hell out of it. And out of the whole princess experience in general, from being called a "fair maiden" (she's dark-skinned) to the expectation that she should just wait around for some prince to come save her. So what does she do? Makes friends with her dragon, burns down the tower, and heads off to rescue her sisters.
Along the way, she meets Bedelia, a chipper half-dwarven blacksmith working anonymously, and briefly reunites with her twin brother Devin, who isn't the aggressive alpha-male heir that his aggressive alpha-male father wants him to be.
It's cute, funny, smart, tongue-in-cheek, and wears practical armor while in combat.
