Fandom: Tales of the Five Hundred Kingdoms - Mercedes Lackey
Category: Books & Literature
Comments: Fantasy romance novels based on fairy tales--with a twist. In the universe of the Five Hundred Kingdoms, there is a mysterious magical force called The Tradition that tries to steer people down the path of common fairy tale tropes. However, not all fairy tales end happily: for example, a maiden in distress might be rescued by a gallant prince--or she might be seduced and discarded by a dastardly rake. The Godmothers try to protect the people of the Kingdoms by manipulating The Tradition in order to bring about happy endings, or at least to prevent as much harm as possible.
The novels are available online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble, in print or as e-books. Most of the Kindle versions are reasonably priced at around 5 or 6 dollars. Or hopefully you can borrow them for free at your local public library.
