ever since Bilbo's departure from the Shire Sam had, like the Yule candle, unobtrusively given himself away, asking nothing in return but to serve the master he loved. The ache in Frodo's heart vanished and suddenly the world was brighter and filled with Yuletide cheer.

Beautiful. I love this so much!

Thank you, Janet. Sam seems that way to me, and hopefully to Frodo, too!

That first Yule without Bilbo must have been difficult, so I like the idea of Frodo starting some happy new traditions. :-)

I love Frodo comparing Sam to the Yule candle, and the description fits him so perfectly. This was such a lovely Christmas tale.

Thank you! I'm glad you think the description fits Sam, because when I read the prompt it made me think of Sam.
