8 Days Until the Yuletide Deadline!

Dec 11, 2015 12:34

I know that's skipping from 10 to 8, but if you check the official terrifying countdown as recently posted in Yuletide Admin, it is currently 8 days, 15 hours and change until the deadline. For those of us who are procrastinators, which 100% includes me, I figure it's better to think that we have less time than we have, instead of more time than we ( Read more... )

I've had a fairly productive day so far - written about a third of the treat that I thought of yesterday (which may end up being long enough for the main collection). I'm about to start obsessing over the latest print-out of my actual assignment to try and fill in the remaining gaps (please, story, finish yourself!), and after that do some research that needs to be done for my Secret Santa fic or start on a non-Yuletide fic that is demanding to be written Right Freaking Now!!

Help! The fics are eating me!!

The story finished itself! \o/ and has been put aside for a couple of days, at which point I move on to the micro-editing phase.

I've now got about 2/3rds of the treat written - this one is rather out of my comfort zone, since it's in the R/PG area and I normally have trouble getting my shipfics out of G territory! I'm taking the advice someone on another community gave to an author in the same boat: write very fast to get as much as possible down before the embarrassment kicks in, then edit. So I'm writing it in short chunks b/c my embarrassment kicks in very quickly. Then I sit there looking at it thinking "Is this too cliched? Is it too clinical?" I think I need to get a sex beta :D

I keep collapsing from dizziness and exhaustion. This is not good.

Actually, something similar happened a month ago. I've been trying to eat more meat since then in case it was an issue of anemia; I don't absorb protein well, and one of the meds I take depresses the production of red blood cells, which means that for me, things like liver are basically medicine. Sadly, this hasn't helped much. The dizziness hung on for four days after the Election Day fiasco, and I' was dizzy all day on Friday and, well, still. In between I've been...well, drained. Something is definitely malfunctioning, but I don't know what it is.

I have written words! Practically the first words I've written this year, too. I was starting to think I would have to default, but now I'm thinking I might be able to do this.

Hm, I voted editing, though really at the moment I'm not doing anything. My beta is doing all the work right now. LOL
