Come on Maz, get with the program! You can't use Chris as an example as he's some kind of ubermensch, no? On the other hand, when I go to another country and don't understand the language, my first response is to curl up into a ball and lie on the floor whispering silent prayers to the horse gods, even though sometimes I doubt they exist.
Anyhow, getting by is one thing, but depth, as you say, is another. I think communication is very important and I wish I could speak more than two languages (one being largely useless anyway). Besides, given that in the past five years you've lived and worked in three different countries using three different languages, I blow raspberries at the gist of your argument :p
Well, I wrote this at 2am so it's pretty good considering... Yes, I read it and I'm very embarrassed about how unstructured this journal entry is. But this is something that I can't quite make my mind up, because it usually depends on how I feel at that moment. Bleuh... Anyway, hope you're okay. let's talk on msn soon yo.
