Life, why must you be so crazy?

Oct 25, 2008 00:30

This week has been rather crazy. Well, it didn't start out crazy, but it sure did a 180 sometime in the middle. Wednesday found one of my uncles spending the night with us so we could drive him down to Medford (a 10-hour round trip) for the Veteran's Alcohol Treatment Center there. And man, rude and incompetent doesn't even begin to describe the people who work there. I didn't even go (I had class) but just hearing about it was enough to get me angry. And I hardly ever get upset. But he was admitted the next day, so that's good.

Then Thursday was a bit uneventful though it is my long day -- I don't get to go home until about 10pm. I did manage to finish reading the second novel for my Latin American Literature class in-between classes. In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez is really powerful and incredibly well-written (though like most novels, it is littered with uncaught typos!). It is a wonderful true story about the dictatorship of Trujillo in the Dominican Republic from around the 1930's to 1962 and the revolutionary Maribal sisters. Even though it's obvious from the first chapter how their story ends, I found I couldn't keep from crying. It's tragic, yet it's still beautiful.

And then Friday was a lot of fun. I spent most of the day with my friend (yes, the engaged one) and we were going to go see a movie, but there's nothing really good out. So we ended up driving to the other side of town to bug her fiancée and one of our other friends. Which ended up with most of us then driving down to the store to pick up "munchies" and rent a couple of movies. We were watching "Never Back Down" before I had to leave, and I really wish now that some of the movie channels would play it. I mean, who doesn't love an action-packed fight movie that involves MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)? How can people not love MMA?

Anyways, I should really get some sleep. The painting continues tomorrow, and thankfully I will be hidden away in another room doing my homework and getting some work in on my fics. Next weekend will see so many updates from me... And even a couple new stories! Oscillating Intention (Inu/Kag fic) will be posted along with Darkening Haze (Hiei/Kag crossover fic).

Tomorrow, Naruto and whatever other manga I may be reading that finally released new chapters... Tomorrow, I will read your updates (and pray that certain characters don't die). Also, Flame of Recca why must you be so damn addictive? I almost wish I didn't pick you up because now I can't get you out of my head (though thanks for pointing me towards it madmiko!).

life: friends, manga: reviews, life: school, life: daily
