"Really, Savannah, corn snakes are quite placid," V pointed out a little amusedly, looking inside the rabbit enclosure where the girl had bolted with a shreik the moment the reptile was produced.
His repeated explorations of the Grue caves had led to the discovery of a great many random objects, but none of them had quite prepared V for the odd train of thought accompanying the discovery of not only a tape player, but books on tape including Sun Tzu's Art Of War.
The lights were less harsh to-day and Nicodemus realised with a bit of a start that he'd actually grown accustomed to his unwilling laboratory residence.
Everyone knew about his fourth self's tendency to haunt bookstores, his fifth self's penchant for playing cricket, and his seventh's habit of juggling increasingly mind-boggling objects (FOUR running chainsaws and a lit birthday cake?), but no-one ever got used to his Eighth self's love of void photography.

He was doing it again, and Clair couldn't help but watch--it was only when he was extremely happy about something that Otto would do the Tentacle Dance.
"'Doc Ock--Hero Or Menace?'" Otto harrumphed, hefting the unconscious Spider-man in his actuators and tossing the copy of that day's Bugle aside, "Menace, indeed, when I've caught this miserable theif for them again."
Z asks him what it's for, but, really, you can't explain a hobby like growing bonsai trees, it just is, that's the whole point; though Alistair's tendency to hang eensy ornaments on them depending on the holiday at the time is less inxplicable because if any innate zen-ness and more so because some things just should not be understood.
It's a little-known fact that, along with horribly angsty musings, ship's logs, and destination headings, Captain Jones' journal also included several scholarly discourses on the growth, care, and feeding of the giant kraken, whom he'd taken to referring to as 'Squidley.'
"Ah, no, I don't have any rum, but it does go really well with chocolate..." Willy managed, backing away from the dangerously swaying--and terrifyingly familiar-looking--pirate and finishing with a nervous giggle.

"Ye've shaved, Jack Sparra', but that cannae hide ye," was the last thing Willy heard before, with a nervous giggle, turning tail and running, thoughts of glazed calamari running quite unbidden through a corner of his mind.

HM! A case of mistaken identity, as Davy Jones runs into the esteemed Mr. Wonka. Because I like Willy today.
