So, I've been working on Fab Follies stuff like mad. Here's some pictures of my set pieces thus far.
This is my basic column...there are two of them. It's black sequin fabric around them with a gold glitter star. This group likes the sparkly things.
Underneath the fabric, the cardboard is painted to look like a palm tree base. Yay scenic painting...I'm really loving it all over again. We're purchasing large palm fronds for the top...so it should look something like this (I lack photoshop right now and this is my 2 second fix). And don't forget the coconuts.
Now the theme of the title number is "Blue Champagne." A bunch of ladies come out singing it...the director wanted a large champagne cutout in the center. Okay...this is what I did...it took 4 hours to make it look nice and I was really fucking proud of it. Then the director comes to me and says(well, my mother first, then the director): it's not a champagne glass. Now, I had been told that they didn't want the long flute type glass and they didn't want the short stubby plastic one that is sometimes used at weddings or whatever. So...I improvised and tapered a wine glass, painted it blue and added champagne bubbles. Audience suspension of disbelief. Well, the director wanted it changed. What do you want, I ask. I take her into my mother's china closet, pull out 5 different kinds of fancy glasses and tell her to point. She picks this:
The flute glass. Bitch! So, I just spent about 2-3 hours repainting a new one. Here's the final result:
And in between the columns and the champagne glass and some step units I built (3 feet tall), there's this pretty blue sequin fabric.
Just thought I'd share :)
