“You are never to fish during winter again, are we clear?”

Ohno pouted as Jun checked the thermometer placed on Ohno’s armpit. Jun’s glare wasn’t lessening even as he was sick and he couldn’t answer back because he didn’t want to lie to Jun (and Jun would see through his lies so he would not bother).

How was he supposed to know that he would fall into the icy cold water from the safety of the Ohno fishing club’s rental boat? (And yes they had one). It had been an impromptu fishing invitation, yes, but they almost prepared like any planned fishing day.

Unfortunately, one big, unexpected wave and a slip of his foot made him go over the railing.

“39.5°C. So much better than an hour ago.” Jun said as he retrieved a bowl of homemade Chinese congee.

Ohno looked at the bowl suspiciously. “Not Italian?”

“Aiba’s mom taught me how to cook this.” Jun blew at the congee and placed it before Ohno’s lips when he deemed its fine.

“Delicious” Ohno mumbled as he ate spoonful after spoonful. He eyed Jun whose expressions softened as he ate. Even if he didn’t have the appetite, he wouldn’t want to worry Jun more.

“Do you have anything else to say?” Jun asked. Ohno ate the last of his congee as he handed the bowl back to Jun.

“Water?” Ohno said and Jun immediately handed a glass to him and then drank it at a snail’s pace. What could he say in a situation like this? He fiddled with the hem of Jun’s jacket he now wore with one hand, keeping his head down as he was afraid to look Jun in the eye. He kept on thinking and thinking and it was already making his head hurt - he was suffering from a fever after all and thinking wasn’t really his specialty. He certainly couldn’t vow to Jun that he wouldn’t fish at all and he also couldn’t vow to not fish for the entire winter season since there were fishes, which you could only catch in that season - not that Jun would care.

Slowly, he allowed himself to raise his head and what he saw was something he didn’t expect.

Jun had tears welling in his eyes.

“I was scared, Leader. I really was scared.” Jun whispered and as he did, Ohno set his own glass at the side table and tugged weakly at Jun’s arms - enveloping him in an embrace. Jun was scared for him, afraid to be lost to the sea forever. He let the youngest member of Arashi cry in his arms then - he might had portrayed himself as a man, possibly somewhat cold to the media but Jun was anything but. Jun always had a heart bigger than anyone else’s and the way he cared for the people he loved always showed.

He thought of his reply then: should he just dismiss it jokingly like Sho would? Try to take a jab at him acting out of character like Nino would? Or should he just say that he was a man of the sea! and he wouldn’t die there easily whilst impersonating Aiba?

Jun’s hold on him tightened as he let his thoughts wander, and he knew that there was only one word he needed to say.

“Sorry.”

“You better be.” Jun spoke as he untangled himself from Ohno, Jun’s face already back to its scowl. “You wouldn’t fish spontaneously again, do you hear me.”

“You’re so much cuter when you’re crying.”

“I thought I’m only cute with my bangs.”

“Well, that too.” Ohno smiled sheepishly. “And yes, I promise to fish only when we are thoroughly prepared.”

“I’ll hold on to that.” Jun started taking the tray away when Ohno stopped his hand.

“I’d be back. Go back to sleep.” Jun smiled at him. Jun may reprimand him again once he fully recovered but for now, he’d treasure this. (And drive in his mind that he must refuse Suzuki and the others when they invite him all of the sudden).
