“You’re staring”
Mitsu tells him one morning when he should either be memorizing his long lines or talk to the staff, other casts, or even the oldest Kis-My-Ft member himself because it is what he does best.
Instead he’s silently watching his shorthaired love interest in Beginners, struck by the odd combination of her tomboyish looks and girlish charisma. Gouriki Ayame, a girl unlike anyone he’s ever encountered.
“I’m not,” Taipi answers. “I’m not…”

“You’re staring,” he tells her awkwardly before they shoot another scene on the rooftop.
“I am.” She replies smiling. He tears his eyes away and onto the ground, thinking if it’s only because of his tan that she’s staring or something else.
He fidgets until the director announces that the shoot will start.

“You’re staring,” she tells him at the wrap-up party. “Don’t even deny it.”
“I’m sorry…?” He answers, not really knowing how he should explain himself because he’s been found out.
“Are you?”
“Not really.” She chuckles then and he finds himself laughing too because the sound of her laugh is adorable. Infectious even.
“I’m staring too, you know.” And he knows its true when he finally meets her eyes.
“Would you like to stare at each other after this? At a family restaurant somewhere or…”
“I would love to.”

He already heard from Toma what she would be like. He also heard from MatsuJun (through Toma) how she'd been during meetings, on the set, on and off camera.
He can at least manage a hi or a hello, maybe a cup of coffee to get to know each other for the romantic comedy-slash-mystery solving drama they’re going to star in. Yamapi denied that its not because he found his new co-star infinitely charming.
(It didn’t make sense even to him though as he practiced his bow in front of the mirror when he already mastered it, given the nature of his work).
She entered the room, smelling like a waft of fresh flowers as she introduced herself, dignified and calm.

He introduced himself in return, but when he heard her laugh, he immediately snapped his head back and looked back at her.
“Yamapi-chan” she pointed at the necklace still latched on his neck that he didn’t manage to remove even after the costume change after a SMAPxSMAP shoot.
He laughed in return, holding out his hand like a dog’s paw before he spoke “Yamapi-chan desu~”.
She held out her hand and beamed at him, and Yamapi was sure he hadn’t seen anything so lovely in the recent years.
He was sure he’d enjoy his time with her, even without the usual hi or hello (although he would still love that cup of coffee with her).

Sho kissed Maki behind her ear, whispering an “I will see you later.” Maki in return gasped, lost her balance for a while when she tried to turn, but immediately regaining her calm and posture when Sho supported her. She went to her proper place before she threw a smile to Sho, who was now on the other side.
All the while, four grown men are sniggering in the dark before Hamasaki Ayumi’s special medley began.
In their dressing room
“Leader and I will drink later. Who wants to go with us?” Aiba asked.
“I’ll go” Nino answered. “What about you Jun?”
“If it’s only for a while I could join. I need my rest too. I have a shooting at 1pm tomorrow.”
“Sho-chan?” Nino turned to Sho.
“Can’t. I have somewhere to be.” Sho replied.
“Somewhere.” Ohno’s lips were starting to curve upward.
“Someone” Aiba added with a full blown smile planted on his face. Nino and Jun exchanged knowing looks.
Sho had no idea what the hell was going on.
“Uh…guys?”
“Sho-kun, you cannot do that during Kouhaku, even in the dark.” Aiba started.
“Yeah. What if someone else saw?” Jun said. “You cannot expect people to believe that you’re only helping her when you kissed her in the ear before that.” Sho’s face and ears turned red.
“Jun-kun, I was just-”
“Horny.” Nino interrupted, “Clearly.”
“I can understand though. It’s not everyday that Sho gets to see her girlfriend wearing a revealing red dress.” Ohno said.
“But she was wearing her kimono then, Oh-chan. You cannot possibly explain that.” Nino countered.
“Maybe Sho-chan is more turned on by traditional clothing than we originally thought?” Aiba offered.
“Guys?” Sho tried again.

“Or you know, it wouldn’t have mattered because they’ll be naked when they-”
“GUYS! PLEASE! It’s my private life we’re talking about here.” Sho shouted.
But no one cared.
“Speaking of which, I can’t imagine what kind of relationship Maki-chan and Sho-chan have.” Nino asked
“Maybe boring. I don’t want to know. Maybe they read books and newspapers together or something” Jun replied.
“…Are they really dating?” Ohno asked.
“Satoshi-kun!” Sho reacted.
“Sorry. It’s just that in Ume-chan Sensei…”
“What.” Sho dared Ohno to speak further.
“Matsuzaka-san looked good together with her.” Ohno did speak, much to Sho’s annoyance.
“People, say something to Leader! I really am dating Maki-chan!”
“…You watch Ume-chan Sensei?” Jun asked.
“Not about that!” Sho interjected.
“Only when I have time.” Ohno continued on answering the queries. Sho groaned.
Nino laughed then, exclaiming a “For the love of Sho-chan’s sloping shoulders, please stop torturing him with whether Tori-kun’s well-suited for Maki-chan or him.” This did not make feel Sho better.
“Oh! I know what kind of couple Maki-chan and Sho-kun is! A comedy pair!” Aiba exclaimed and all ears (and Sho’s raised eyebrow) are on him.
“You remember earlier when Maki-chan lost her balance when she turned and tried to hold onto Sho’s shoulders but they slipped?”
“You mean to say that Sho-kun’s reaction time then was not by chance? Sho actually felt hands on his shoulders so he knows when to hold her?” Jun’s eyes were wide with amusement; the dame trio laughed; Sho in return wanted to shrink.
“Maki-chan can sleep anywhere in any situation right? Do you think she can sleep while leaning on Sho-kun’s shoulder?” Ohno wondered when the laughter died down.
Sho face-palmed in defeat as the rest of Arashi continued their teasing.
In Maki’s apartment
Maki greeted Sho with a kiss on the cheek before she let him in.
“What took you so long?” She asked as her arms wrap around his neck.
Sho reminisced the terrifying event earlier and decided to just summarize it in one word. “Arashi.” Maki knew anyway.
