I was reading a liveblog from Joystiq who were attending a closed Nintendo conference and I put highlights in this post. An interesting aside, there were 4 Wii's present, and only AC, Wii Sports, and Wii Music were listed to be there.
AC Wii
- In addition to Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, there will also be a Carnival that comes to town.
- Furniture, Wallpaper, and Flooring will be automatically updated through WiiConnect24.
- The city aspect of the game will sync with friends' towns and acts as a shared space for everyone to interact indirectly. I guess that means items available there are first-come-first-serve. Let the fistfights begin.
- You can now edit the front, back, and each sleeve of your clothing (FUCK YES)
- You can port your character and items from Wild World (cool, but why would you want to do that?)
- You can transfer your Wii character to your DS to transport him/her to a friends house... like a memory card.
- Nintendo considered linking the game with the Wii's weather channel, but were worried that people who live in overly wet/dry places (sup San Angelo) would lead to overly wet/dry places in the game.
Wii Sports Resort
(due to the exciting nature of this section, I've decided to take a short nap)
- They haven't finalized how many games will be included, but are shooting for 10.
- They basically admit that the WiiMote is an incomplete product and the WiiMotionPlus is the answer to that. When asked if the attachment will become the new standard and may be integrated into a future iteration of the WiiMote they say there are always looking into things like this, and that they have no definite answer.
-Staff from Wave Race are working on the Jet Skiing potion of the game and look to surpass Wave Race's depth.
Wii Music
- You evidently don't need to look at the screen while you're playing it. Not really sure about the interface... I actually fast forwarded through that part of the conference.
- You can create music videos and send them to friends over WiFi.
- There's a separate drum training component that Miyamoto claims will teach how how to play "in a few weeks." Between this, and all the other music games on the market, there's gonna be a huge saturation of drummers looking for work in the near future...
- Will feature 50 songs, many of which will be public domain, but there will also be plenty of licensed stuff too. A repeat of Donkey Konga's stellar line-up?! SIGN ME UP
- "Not really thinking" about downloadable songs, and instead want to focus on the community aspect.
From Joystiq: In response to a question about whether or not a new Pikmin is in the works, Miyamoto says he'll announced the new game when he's ready. Apparently he's ready now. "We're making Pikmin," the translator says. OMG MEGATONZ!
...and the conference is over...
What?
WHAT?!
